The 2012 AIA Academy of Architecture of Justice Conference will be held in Toronto from October 10-12 at the Toronto Hilton Hotel. We are excited to bring the annual conference to Canada for only the second time in thirty years. This year's theme is Community Dialogue: Architecture for Justice and Renewal and is comprised of a series of sessions that were selected to motivate and encourage discussion around the opportunity and responsibility we have in building our communities and our cities. We welcome all planners, architects, engineers, students, owners, public officials, administrators, contractors and vendors to Toronto.
The annual international conference will include presentations and discussion panels that represent three related, but distinct justice sessions: courts, correctional, and law enforcement facilities. Each session runs concurrently, and was selected by the AAJ Planning Committee to feature several 2012 JFR award winners and highlight unique projects that address the community theme.
Don't forget to register for the AAJ Sustainability Workshop to be held Saturday, October 13 from 9 am to noon.
Join the AAJ Sustainability Committee in an interactive workshop which will explore how to advance sustainable principles for justice facilities. This workshop will be a continuation of current committee work on stakeholder education, public relations/advocacy, and the development of a rating system specifically for justice facilities. You do not need a committee member to attend. New participants are welcome and it is free to attend. The workshop will be held at the offices of HDR Architecture, Inc. located at 255 West Adelaide St, Toronto, ON M5H 1X9.
